1. Mexican Coffee ‘Café de Olla’

This delightful drink has an alluring blend of brown sugar, zesty cinnamon, and coffee.

  • 4 cups of water
  • 4-6 Tablespoons dark brown sugar about or Piloncillo
  • 1 stick of Mexican Cinnamon
  • 4 Tablespoons of ground Coffee
  • 1 star anise (optional)
  • 1 clove (optional)
  • Peel from ½ an orange (optional)

Recipe – In a saucepan, add the water, cinnamon, and Piloncillo or brown sugar. Also, add any other spices or orange peel if using.  When the water starts to boil, add the coffee, turn the heat off, and stir. Cover the pot and let steep for 5 minutes. Strain into the coffee cups.

2. French Coffee ‘Café Au Lait’

French coffee is made with equal parts of both steamed milk and strongly brewed fresh coffee, combined. It is very similar to the Italian caffe latte but uses strongly brewed coffee, instead of espresso.

3. Portuguese Coffee ‘Mazagran’

Mazagran is a cold, sweetened coffee drink that originated in Algeria. Portuguese versions may use espresso, lemon, mint, and rum, and Austrian versions are served with an ice cube and include rum.

  • 8 ounces of fresh-brewed coffee or cold-brew coffee
  • 1 teaspoon honey, or to taste
  • 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice, or juice from half of a small lemon

Recipe – In a tall glass, add freshly brewed coffee, and honey and squeeze in some lemon juice. Serve with ice cubes and lemon wedge.

Australian flat white coffee is made by pouring steamed velvety milk (called microfoam), over a shot of espresso. It is called flat white because it is an espresso served with steamed milk.

Turkish Coffee, also called ‘Turk Kahvesi’ is made with finely ground coffee beans that are simmered in a special type of copper pot, which is called a cezve.

Ingredients –

  • 2 heaped teaspoons ground Turkish coffee
  • 2¼ cups of water
  • Sugar ( optional)

Recipe – Add your Turkish coffee to the cezve pot. Now add your sugar, if using. Add water to the cezve and heat on low. When froth forms and starts to rise, remove the cezve from heat.

7. Irish Coffee ‘Caife Gaelach’

Irish coffee is a coffee and cocktail blend. They call it a “hybrid”. Well, it is yet another coffee that contains alcohol, like the German coffee. It is made with hot coffee, Irish whiskey, and sugar, topped with thick cream.

Ingredients –

  • 1 dollop of heavy whipping cream
  • 6 Ounces coffee hot, fresh brewed
  • 1.5 Ounces of Irish whiskey
  • 1 tbsp Brown sugar

Recipe – Mix the hot coffee, sugar, and Irish whiskey in a glass mug. Top with the whipped cream.

 Vietnamese Coffee ‘ca phe sua da’

8. Vietnamese Coffee ‘ca phe sua da’

There are two delicious Vietnamese coffee drinks. Vietnamese coffee ‘ca phe sua da’ is made with condensed milk and coffee. While ‘Ca phe Trung’, is the Coffee that is made with egg.

Ingredients –

  • 1 heaped Tbsp condensed milk
  • 1 heaped Tbsp coarsely ground strong coffee beans
  • 2 Tbsp water
  • Hot water

Recipe – Pour the sweetened condensed milk into a coffee mug. Pour the ground coffee into a Vietnamese coffee filter base. Place the coffee filter strainer on top of the coffee. Place the filter assembly on top of the glass. Pour hot water into the phin filter. Place the phin filter lid on top and let the coffee drip through the filter into the glass.

Ingredients –

  • 12 oz espresso
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 4 tbsp sweetened condensed milk

Recipe – Whip the egg yolk and sweetened condensed milk until light frothy or soft peaks. In a cup add in espresso and slowly pour in the egg mixture on top of it.

Swedish coffee is made by pouring hot coffee over chunks of cheese curds, also called as ‘juustoleipa’ or ‘hvarg’ in Sweden. It is a type of cheese curd that has a light taste and soft, smooth texture.

Hong Kong coffee, also called ‘Yuenyeung’ is another unique type of coffee, because it is made from a mixture of coffee and tea! It is a frothy smooth coffee (bitter in taste), mixed with rich milk and floral black tea.

Ingredients –

  • ½ Cup Strong Coffee
  • 4-6 Black tea bags (Ceylon, Assam and Darjeeling)
  • 1¾ Cups Milk
  • Brown Sugar

Recipe – Pour the milk into a small saucepan, and add the black tea leaves or tea bags. Let it heat on low until the milk starts to boil. While the tea is steeping, make some strong coffee. Pour the coffee into the tea and then add in the sugar. Strain into the mugs and serve. If you want to serve it chilled then refrigerate and add in some ice cubes before you serve.

12. Spanish Coffee ‘Café Bombon’

Spanish coffee is quite thick and sugary. It is made from an equal amount of condensed and black coffee mixed together. It is also called “sweet espresso” coffee. This is because it is a strong shot of espresso that is served with condensed milk.
