A 19-year-old young man inserted a headphone cable into his genitalia and was unable to remove it, resulting in bleeding.
Doctors described this as a rare case of urethral injury. Although the patient was admitted late, he was fortunate that his bladder and urethra were preserved without severe complications.
A Desperate Hospital Visit
Upon arriving at the hospital, the young man was in a state of panic and anxiety. He admitted to watching a video online that inspired him to insert the cable into his urethra through the penis. However, he accidentally pushed it too deep, leading to it becoming lodged inside. He waited an entire day before seeking emergency medical help.
X-ray and ultrasound scans revealed that the foreign object was entirely inside the bladder. Doctors performed an endoscopic procedure and successfully removed a 10 cm headphone cable, including a 3.5 mm jack. Fortunately, the patient did not suffer any severe long-term damage.
The Dangers of Foreign Objects in the Urethra
According to medical professionals, inserting foreign objects into the urethra poses significant risks, including infections, bleeding, and the formation of knots that can narrow the urethra and obstruct urine flow. The presence of such objects can cause burning sensations, difficulty urinating, and even erectile dysfunction. In severe cases, the bladder or urinary tract may suffer damage or even perforation, requiring surgical intervention.
